Director

Hours: 10 hours per week, director must be in house 3 mornings per week, days of week negotiable
Starting Salary: $19.20 per hour

Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree In Early Education or related major OR state certification or practice as a teacher.
  • 9 college level credits in business OR a Principal Credential OR an Educational Admin Credential.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and auditory communication skills.
  • Maturity and sensitivity in working with children, parents, and other staff persons.
  • A passion for working with, teaching, and learning from young children.
  • A personal commitment to Christian values.

Accountability

This position is accountable to the Tree of Life Parent Board and the Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay.

Function

To maintain operational leadership of the program- Including but not limited to legal and fiscal management of all matters pertaining to Tree of Life as well as maintaining proper certifications and training of staff.

Responsibilities

Shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet, maintain and exceed licensing requirements, NAEYC Accreditation & reporting, Tree of Life and church policies & procedures including Safe Sanctuaries.
  • Ensures that lesson plans, teaching aids, and classroom activities are age appropriate and fit with the mission of Tree of Life.
  • Identifies and implements staff training, ensuring staff is current with continuing education requirements and updated on developmentally appropriate early childhood education concepts and Christian education.
  • Assists in recruitment, hiring, orientation, annual review, supervision and dismissal of preschool staff.
  • Recruits and supports substitute teachers as needed.
  • Mentors teachers in planning, implementing and supervising activities for 2 to 5 year olds, proper emergency procedures, parent relationships, and conferences.
  • Provides support to teachers in and out of the classroom as needed, ensuring proper child-teacher ratios and outstanding care of children.
  • Provide assistance to Public Relations Board Member with general public relations with community and church including marketing materials, websites, social media sites, event flyers, newsletters and other communications as needed. Director will provide the lead on adding TOL updates and announcements in the weekly Church email and bulletin and monthly newsletter.
  • Maintain updates to parent and employee handbook, by-laws, enrollment forms and other Tree of Life policies and procedures.
  • .Coordinates school calendar, fall orientation and special events with the Parent Board President
  • .Conducts and/or coordinates tours of perspective families, follow-up and assistance with enrollment
  • Attend monthly board meetings.
  • .Attend to parental concerns, questions and needs.
  • Assist in addressing school maintenance or cleaning concerns, such as room cleaning and security door/key fob operations.
  • Assist teachers with separation, behavior, or toileting issues that arise during the school day.
  • Maintain State required records on all students and staff.
  • Maintain accurate email lists for each individual class.
  • Send email communications on behalf of Parent Board to individual classes or all enrolled families.
